99.2 FM

Hermitage FM is a community radio station, based in Coalville, North-west Leicestershire. It is a spin-off project from the hospital radio service which broadcasts to Ashby, Loughborough, Coalville, Melton and Ashby hospitals. Volunteers who were – and still are- involved with the hospital radio service, saw that there was a need and demand for a truly local radio service.

In 2009 OFCOM granted Hermitage FM a licence to broadcast on 99.2 FM. Founder members were determined that the community radio station would not be run as an extension of a select few people’s private hobby, but that the emphasis would be on the community being welcomed and positively encouraged to become involved and it was a deliberate decision to site the radio station on the High Street with a coffee shop.
