Sam Ard On Saturday
On air: Saturdays 11-1pm
Sam Ard brings you two hours of live fun with feel-good music, news of the day, a catch-up with the Nana and a host of guests.
Brand new to Hermitage FM, join Sam for two hours packed with the best entertainment on the radio, tailored for North West Leicestershire:
- Sam will keep you bang up to date with the very latest news, events, weather and travel in Leicestershire and the UK across the show. There’s a peak into the local and national press during the first hour and some showbiz for you in the second.
- After twelve we play a listener’s album tracks. Simple, really… You tell us three tracks from your favourite album to share with everyone, then we play them back to back on the show. What could be better?
- The Nana gives us a bell every week to fill us in on what’s happening in her world and to debate the week’s hot topics. She holds up the flag, if you like, for some of our more mature listeners in a feature described by Radio 2's Steve Wright to Sam as ‘genius’!
- Every week we welcome a Saturday Guest to the show, for a little chat over a brew and bacon sarnie. So far we’ve had bands, politicians, famous broadcasters and even a shed expert – that’s variety.
Sam’s been with Hermitage FM since early 2012, presenting and producing various shows on the station. Sam’s only sixteen and so currently juggles A-Levels with presenting for the station every Saturday (the latter is much more fun, we’re told). Sam aspires to become a broadcaster and journalist and has an infectious passion for both being on the radio and also Leicestershire, the beautiful county he grew up in.
Sam was inspired to get into radio by greats such as Steve Wright and Jo Whiley and when not on the radio, you can find him riding round Leicestershire in hideously tight lycra or lazing around the garden with a coffee. Hear him presenting the Saturday Breakfast Sport and on his new show, Sam Ard on Saturday. He also writes an online blog with over 40,000 readers and occasionally for local papers such as the Loughborough Echo.
Get involved with the show!
