The Colin Park Show

My name is Colin Park - I am a writer, a photographer and a great lover of almost all music.
My show involves an eclectic mix of music, largely from the 1960s up to the present day. However, I have been known to delve back into the 1950s and even the 1940s. The weekly selection is governed by which musicians' birthdates coincide with that particular week.
I grew up listening to The BBC Light Programme (1945 – 1967) – yes I am that old. I guess my great love of music was born back then. Also, although I was far too young to be a real part of it, the pub across the road from our house blasted out carefree, wild, rock ‘n’ roll and I loved it. My taste has been evolving and expanding ever since.
As the 1970s approached, I found myself listening to what I liked rather than any trends. However, Abba and Peter, Paul and Mary were then out of the question – drowned out by the likes of Led Zeppelin and seemingly belittled by the meaningful lyrics and mesmerising, psychedelic sound of Pink Floyd. Nowadays, music from every genre, new and old, continues to pleasantly surprise and enlighten me.
Roughly in the middle of my show, there’s a 'Randomizer' where my computer chooses a track for us, which can be anything – within reason. Amid a sprinkling of trivia about what happened on that date back in history, there’s always a 'Mystery Lyric' and 'Mystery Intro' to guess too.
To sum up, I have developed an extremely wide taste in music. And yes I do now listen to Abba and Peter, Paul and Mary – not only that but I love ‘em!
So you never know what you’ll hear on my Sunday show. Please join me for a rummage together through the genres, the decades and the trivia.
I look forward to your company.
